At The Grove, we believe that life wasn’t meant to be done alone and that's what we believe our growth groups are all about. We believe that relationships develop and lives are changed as we gather together, connect with each other, and grow with one another.

We believe that everyone should be in a Growth Group! The reason we believe this is one simple word, “together”.

Looking at our world, we see scores of people who are insulated and isolated from each other. Whether this is a result of the increasing use of social media or just unfortunate life circumstances, “isolation” and “division" are rampant in our nation! We seek to be a church who spends time “together”. Our Growth Groups are an open group, meaning all are welcome. Come and invite friends and neighbors to join you in growing together in Christ.

We believe God created us to live in relationship with others, and only then can we live the full life He intends for us. Sharing life through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren't always easy to find. That's why Grow Groups exist; to make these life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to you.

What is a grow group?

Growth Groups are small groups of adults, who meet in homes or at church on a weekly basis to study God's Word, share together and support one another in their Christian lives. Groups consist of up to but no more than 16 adults (10-14 is our goal for each group). Groups meet on various days and times of the week. Group meetings last for approximately 90 minutes. Group meetings consist of Bible study, fellowship, prayer and encouragement.  Growth Groups are the place where we establish relationships and grow towards spiritual maturity together.

what is the purpose of a grow group

Grow groups are small group gatherings that create safe spaces for people to develop relationships, grow spiritually, and to build community through celebrating our similarities and differences.  At First University SDA Church, Grow groups will serve as an opportunity for people to connect, grow, and share in a community. 1U Grow groups will meet on a semester basis. Each grow group will run anywhere between 6 and 10 weeks.

An example of a small group in the Bible, would be Jesus and his 12 apostles. In Mark 3:13-19, it identifies a special group of disciples that Jesus appointed to walk with him.  According to verse 14 and 15, these apostles were selected to go out and preach, have power to heal sicknesses, and cast out demons.
